This is the NRAO's (National Radio Astronomy Observatory) telescope 85-2 being hauled by a bulldozer and tow tractor. Its engineering allowed for changing its position like this, varying the distance between movable telescopes and stationary ones, altering the resolution of the array's combined view. Original file at NRAO. The original description did not cite a date nor author, although the conceiving of the Green Bank Interferometer (GBI), which the 85-2 was part of, happened on the 60's. The GBI was NRAO's first array.
