Picture: Old man beside caged chickens

This is a picture by Vincenzo Pastore (portuguese), Italian photographer who disembarked in São Paulo on 1894, where he opened a successful studio and became one of the most active professional photographers on the state at the time. He later opened a branch of the studio in Bari, Italy. He documented much of São Paulo's habits of the time, such as street workers like merchants, bootblacks and newspaper carriers, as you can see in the collection where the image bellow can be found (photographs dated from 1910 to 1915). The economic development that soon followed changed much of the city appearance.

Está é uma foto de Vincenzo Pastore, fotógrafo italiano que desembarcou em São Paulo em 1894, onde abriu um estúdio bem-sucedido e tornou-se um dos mais ativos fotógrafos profissionais no estado na época. Posteriormente, abriu uma filial em Bari, na Itália.  Ele documentou muito dos hábitos de São Paulo, a exemplo dos trabalhadores de rua como feirantes, engraxates e jornaleiros, como você pode ver na coleção onde a imagem acima pode ser encontrada (fotografias datadas de 1910 a 1915). O Desenvolvimento econômico logo mudaria muito da aparência da cidade.
